Surah Al-Baqarah, ayah 282

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَدَايَنتُم بِدَيْنٍ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ مُّسَمًّى فَٱكْتُبُوهُ ۚ وَلْيَكْتُب بَّيْنَكُمْ كَاتِبٌۢ بِٱلْعَدْلِ ۚ وَلَا يَأْبَ كَاتِبٌ أَن يَكْتُبَ كَمَا عَلَّمَهُ ٱللَّهُ ۚ فَلْيَكْتُبْ وَلْيُمْلِلِ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ وَلْيَتَّقِ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّهُۥ وَلَا يَبْخَسْ مِنْهُ شَيْـًٔا ۚ فَإِن كَانَ ٱلَّذِى عَلَيْهِ ٱلْحَقُّ سَفِيهًا أَوْ ضَعِيفًا أَوْ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَن يُمِلَّ هُوَ فَلْيُمْلِلْ وَلِيُّهُۥ بِٱلْعَدْلِ ۚ وَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟ شَهِيدَيْنِ مِن رِّجَالِكُمْ ۖ فَإِن لَّمْ يَكُونَا رَجُلَيْنِ فَرَجُلٌ وَٱمْرَأَتَانِ مِمَّن تَرْضَوْنَ مِنَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءِ أَن تَضِلَّ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا فَتُذَكِّرَ إِحْدَىٰهُمَا ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ ۚ وَلَا يَأْبَ ٱلشُّهَدَآءُ إِذَا مَا دُعُوا۟ ۚ وَلَا تَسْـَٔمُوٓا۟ أَن تَكْتُبُوهُ صَغِيرًا أَوْ كَبِيرًا إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلِهِۦ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمْ أَقْسَطُ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَأَقْوَمُ لِلشَّهَـٰدَةِ وَأَدْنَىٰٓ أَلَّا تَرْتَابُوٓا۟ ۖ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَ تِجَـٰرَةً حَاضِرَةً تُدِيرُونَهَا بَيْنَكُمْ فَلَيْسَ عَلَيْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ أَلَّا تَكْتُبُوهَا ۗ وَأَشْهِدُوٓا۟ إِذَا تَبَايَعْتُمْ ۚ وَلَا يُضَآرَّ كَاتِبٌ وَلَا شَهِيدٌ ۚ وَإِن تَفْعَلُوا۟ فَإِنَّهُۥ فُسُوقٌۢ بِكُمْ ۗ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۖ وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُ ٱللَّهُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

O you who have believed, when you contract a debt for a specified term, write it down. And let a scribe write [it] between you in justice. Let no scribe refuse to write as Allāh has taught him. So let him write and let the one who has the obligation [i.e., the debtor] dictate. And let him fear Allāh, his Lord, and not leave anything out of it. But if the one who has the obligation is of limited understanding or weak or unable to dictate himself, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And bring to witness two witnesses from among your men. And if there are not two men [available], then a man and two women from those whom you accept as witnesses - so that if one of them [i.e., the women] errs, then the other can remind her. And let not the witnesses refuse when they are called upon. And do not be [too] weary to write it, whether it is small or large, for its [specified] term. That is more just in the sight of Allāh and stronger as evidence and more likely to prevent doubt between you, except when it is an immediate transaction which you conduct among yourselves. For [then] there is no blame upon you if you do not write it. And take witnesses when you conclude a contract. Let no scribe be harmed or any witness. For if you do so, indeed, it is [grave] disobedience in you. And fear Allāh. And Allāh teaches you. And Allāh is Knowing of all things.

  22. ٱللَّهُ ۚl-lahuAllah
  23. فَلْيَكْتُبْfalyaktubSo let him write
  24. وَلْيُمْلِلِwalyum'liliand let dictate
  25. ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one
  26. عَلَيْهِʿalayhion whom
  27. ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the right
  28. وَلْيَتَّقِwalyattaqiand let him fear
  29. ٱللَّهَl-lahaAllah
  30. رَبَّهُۥrabbahuhis Lord
  31. وَلَاwalāand (let him) not
  32. يَبْخَسْyabkhasdiminish
  33. مِنْهُmin'hufrom it
  34. شَيْـًۭٔا ۚshayananything
  35. فَإِنfa-inThen if
  36. كَانَkānais
  37. ٱلَّذِىalladhīthe one
  38. عَلَيْهِʿalayhion him
  39. ٱلْحَقُّl-ḥaqu(is) the right
  40. سَفِيهًاsafīhan(of) limited understanding
  41. أَوْawor
  42. ضَعِيفًاḍaʿīfanweak
  43. أَوْawor
  44. لَاlānot
  45. يَسْتَطِيعُyastaṭīʿucapable
  46. أَنanthat
  47. يُمِلَّyumilla(can) dictate
  48. هُوَhuwahe
  49. فَلْيُمْلِلْfalyum'lilthen let dictate
  50. وَلِيُّهُۥwaliyyuhuhis guardian
  51. بِٱلْعَدْلِ ۚbil-ʿadliwith justice
  52. وَٱسْتَشْهِدُوا۟wa-is'tashhidūAnd call for evidence
  53. شَهِيدَيْنِshahīdaynitwo witnesses
  54. مِنminamong
  55. رِّجَالِكُمْ ۖrijālikumyour men
  56. فَإِنfa-inAnd if
  57. لَّمْlamnot
  58. يَكُونَاyakūnāthere are
  59. رَجُلَيْنِrajulaynitwo men
  60. فَرَجُلٌۭfarajulunthen one man
  61. وَٱمْرَأَتَانِwa-im'ra-atāniand two women
  62. مِمَّنmimmanof whom
  63. تَرْضَوْنَtarḍawnayou agree
  64. مِنَminaof
  65. ٱلشُّهَدَآءِl-shuhadāi[the] witnesses
  66. أَنan(so) that (if)
  67. تَضِلَّtaḍilla[she] errs
  68. إِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the two
  69. فَتُذَكِّرَfatudhakkirathen will remind
  70. إِحْدَىٰهُمَاiḥ'dāhumāone of the two
  71. ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ ۚl-ukh'rāthe other
  72. وَلَاwalāAnd not
  73. يَأْبَyaba(should) refuse
  74. ٱلشُّهَدَآءُl-shuhadāuthe witnesses
  75. إِذَاidhāwhen
  76. مَاmāthat
  77. دُعُوا۟ ۚduʿūthey are called
  78. وَلَاwalāAnd not
  79. تَسْـَٔمُوٓا۟tasamū(be) weary
  80. أَنanthat
  81. تَكْتُبُوهُtaktubūhuyou write it
  82. صَغِيرًاṣaghīransmall
  83. أَوْawor
  84. كَبِيرًاkabīranlarge
  85. إِلَىٰٓilāfor
  86. أَجَلِهِۦ ۚajalihiits term
  87. ذَٰلِكُمْdhālikumThat
  88. أَقْسَطُaqsaṭu(is) more just
  89. عِندَʿindanear
  90. ٱللَّهِl-lahiAllah
  91. وَأَقْوَمُwa-aqwamuand more upright
  92. لِلشَّهَـٰدَةِlilshahādatifor evidence
  93. وَأَدْنَىٰٓwa-adnāand nearer
  94. أَلَّاallāthat not
  95. تَرْتَابُوٓا۟ ۖtartābūyou (have) doubt
  96. إِلَّآillāexcept
  97. أَنanthat
  98. تَكُونَtakūnabe
  99. تِجَـٰرَةًtijāratana transaction
  100. حَاضِرَةًۭḥāḍiratanpresent
  101. تُدِيرُونَهَاtudīrūnahāyou carry out
  102. بَيْنَكُمْbaynakumamong you
  103. فَلَيْسَfalaysathen not
  104. عَلَيْكُمْʿalaykumon you
  105. جُنَاحٌjunāḥunany sin
  106. أَلَّاallāthat not
  107. تَكْتُبُوهَا ۗtaktubūhāyou write it
  108. وَأَشْهِدُوٓا۟wa-ashhidūAnd take witness
  109. إِذَاidhāwhen
  110. تَبَايَعْتُمْ ۚtabāyaʿtumyou make commercial transaction
  111. وَلَاwalāAnd not
  112. يُضَآرَّyuḍārra(should) be harmed
  113. كَاتِبٌۭkātibun(the) scribe
  114. وَلَاwalāand not
  115. شَهِيدٌۭ ۚshahīdun(the) witness
  116. وَإِنwa-inand if
  117. تَفْعَلُوا۟tafʿalūyou do
  118. فَإِنَّهُۥfa-innahuthen indeed it
  119. فُسُوقٌۢfusūqun(is) sinful conduct
  120. بِكُمْ ۗbikumfor you
  121. وَٱتَّقُوا۟wa-ittaqūand fear
  122. ٱللَّهَ ۖl-lahaAllah
  123. وَيُعَلِّمُكُمُwayuʿallimukumuAnd teaches
  124. ٱللَّهُ ۗl-lahuAllah
  125. وَٱللَّهُwal-lahuAnd Allah
  126. بِكُلِّbikulliof every
  127. شَىْءٍshayinthing
  128. عَلِيمٌۭʿalīmun(is) All-Knower
