Surah Al-Baqarah, ayah 177

۞ لَّيْسَ ٱلْبِرَّ أَن تُوَلُّوا۟ وُجُوهَكُمْ قِبَلَ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَلَـٰكِنَّ ٱلْبِرَّ مَنْ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ وَءَاتَى ٱلْمَالَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِۦ ذَوِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينَ وَٱبْنَ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَٱلسَّآئِلِينَ وَفِى ٱلرِّقَابِ وَأَقَامَ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَٱلْمُوفُونَ بِعَهْدِهِمْ إِذَا عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ۖ وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ فِى ٱلْبَأْسَآءِ وَٱلضَّرَّآءِ وَحِينَ ٱلْبَأْسِ ۗ أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ ٱلَّذِينَ صَدَقُوا۟ ۖ وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ

Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allāh, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakāh; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.

  16. وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِwal-malāikatiand the Angels
  17. وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِwal-kitābiand the Book
  18. وَٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَwal-nabiyīnaand the Prophets
  19. وَءَاتَىwaātāand gives
  20. ٱلْمَالَl-mālathe wealth
  21. عَلَىٰʿalāin
  22. حُبِّهِۦḥubbihispite of his love (for it)
  23. ذَوِىdhawī(to) those
  24. ٱلْقُرْبَىٰl-qur'bā(of) the near relatives
  25. وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰwal-yatāmāand the orphans
  26. وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينَwal-masākīnaand the needy
  27. وَٱبْنَwa-ib'naand (of)
  28. ٱلسَّبِيلِl-sabīlithe wayfarer
  29. وَٱلسَّآئِلِينَwal-sāilīnaand those who ask
  30. وَفِىwafīand in
  31. ٱلرِّقَابِl-riqābifreeing the necks (slaves)
  32. وَأَقَامَwa-aqāmaand (who) establish
  33. ٱلصَّلَوٰةَl-ṣalatathe prayer
  34. وَءَاتَىwaātāand give
  35. ٱلزَّكَوٰةَl-zakatathe zakah
  36. وَٱلْمُوفُونَwal-mūfūnaand those who fulfill
  37. بِعَهْدِهِمْbiʿahdihimtheir covenant
  38. إِذَاidhāwhen
  39. عَـٰهَدُوا۟ ۖʿāhadūthey make it
  40. وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَwal-ṣābirīnaand those who are patient
  41. فِىfīin
  42. ٱلْبَأْسَآءِl-basāi[the] suffering
  43. وَٱلضَّرَّآءِwal-ḍarāiand [the] hardship
  44. وَحِينَwaḥīnaand (the) time
  45. ٱلْبَأْسِ ۗl-basi(of) [the] stress
  46. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَulāikaThose
  47. ٱلَّذِينَalladhīna(are) the ones who
  48. صَدَقُوا۟ ۖṣadaqūare true
  49. وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَwa-ulāikaand those
  50. هُمُhumu[they]
  51. ٱلْمُتَّقُونَl-mutaqūna(are) the righteous
